What bugs me, is that when I follow a link in someones blogroll, many times I find myself reading a blog in German or some other language not being English. Since participating in the blogging-community, I think we need to speak the same language.
The term “conversation” is when people react on eachothers posts in their on weblog. Following the links provided, you follow the “conversation”.
To enable such a thing as a web-conversation, this post is in English. With the inevitable question: should this blog continue in English, or in Dutch? Please tell me by commenting on this post.
My preference is Dutch.
Although your english posting is legible, too much is lost in the two-way translation that inevitably occurs. Between you writing down your thoughts in english and me interpreting your english text in my dutch brain a lot of the pun and innuendo just doesn’t come through.
I’d go for english, since I can only speak english… :s
I’d settle for English, first and foremost because the majority of the people on this planet at least have some knowledge of the language, and my guess would be 99% of Dutch people under 50 speak, write and read it adequately. My own blog is still mainly in Dutch I know, but I’m considering a change as well. I’d say English is the way forward on the internet. Or we all have to learn lojban pronto (www.lojban.org), the only language that should be within reach for everyone on the planet, including computers!
