Movable Type is here. And so is the mandatory payment. The free edition will be limited, which for a lot of users is the understatement of the year. Read the comments to this post and decide if you want to stick with MT, or move along to something that remains free. Like b2evolution for example.

  1. Fuckaduck. I just downloaded the MT stuff last week and decided I’d equip my (Fedora) linux server-to-be with it and start using that. Bummer, yet another great piece of software that no longer is (fully) free. Looks as if the good old days are about over. Thanks for the info Reg!

  2. By the way, for those running a personal blog longer than 6 months, hurry to http://www.pmachine.com/ to be eligible for a free license. First 1000 responding blog owners will get the personal version for free. (regular price 45$).
Personally I am now looking at WordPress, will report back on how I like it. Sure thing : MT is losing out with their latest move I guess, what an immense uproar they have created! Idiots!
