With Grid2 around the corner (May, 28th) I decided to buy Grid (the first one). It’s cheap on GreenmanGaming.com at the moment, so I bought it and installed it by entering the key on Steam.

The controller defaults on Grid are of course the (cursor-)keys, so to use the Fanatec wheel, I had to make a custom setup. Not very difficult, but strange to see a game that is all about realism does not have a default “wheel” setup.

The game is difficult. I did my fair share of Forza3, Forza4, Shift, Shift2 and Forza Horizon, but this game is unforgiving. Like it is in real life of course. Bump into a wall, and basically your race is over, since your front wheels are damaged or maybe worse: you totalled your car. I cranked down the difficulty a bit, but even then the game is very hard.

Probably because it’s an older game, it does not support FullHD resolution. The closest is 1280×800 or 1280×900. Still the game looks great when you modify the graphics details to HIGH.

For the price on Greenman, don’t think twice and buy this game if you’re into racing games. But don’t say I didn’t warn you…

Another year gone, the new year has started. For me 2012 wasn’t the best year, so I’m making some changes. Some already in effect, some changes still to come. Change is good!

All in all I think I want to be happy, so that’s what I will be.

PS Yes, new WordPress, and since change is good, I changed the theme here…

Returning to “normal”

Things are returning to normal mode again. Finished fixing up the old house (the inspector was very picky about plugs and dirt) and slowly getting this house back to a state where it is without stuff in boxes. The living room is almost box free (just 2), the kitchen has its amount reduced from around 20 to under 10, just one in the dressing room. Most boxes are up here, in the computer department….of course.

 

I like being back in Rotterdam. And I like this house.

I’ve moved and internet is alive again. Another IP address, so I updated my DNS records. The server should be reachable soon as the DNS-update propagates.

Tomorrow is the big day. I will be moving back to Rotterdam, in fact to my “old” house. Here the house is filled with boxes and the cats seem to know something is going on. They like the boxes though!

 

My muscles ache, but I’ll have to hold on for one more day. One more day of packing, moving stuff around, throwing old stuff away. One more day. Pfffff…..

Back to Rotterdam?

There is a chance I will be moving back to Rotterdam this year. The thought alone is awesome. Gotta do some calculations to see if I can make all ends meet. Stay tuned….

Yesterday I had a workday again, since ages. I almost worked 8 hours, and the job was fun to do. Today a major setback: extremely tired and most of the day I spend sleeping. It is now about 10 in the evening and slowly the energy is coming back. Monday another try.

My registrar reminded me of the expiration of rare-it.com. I prolonged the decision last year, but this year I will no longer renew the domain. All the important things I could think of have been transferred to my new domain, or has been modified to use a new email address. As per August, 3rd, the domain will cease to exist.

Since the weblog now runs on the Synology, I decided to switch of the server until I need something of the disks it has. A normal shutdown, and then….
