Just to be sure, I did not only renew the “switchbl8.nl” domain, but also “rare-it.com”. Not “rare-it-services.com”, since I did not use it anyway. But I’m not sure what stuff on the web uses my rare-it.com email address, so I now have another year to figure that out.
I just changed the URL of the weblog from rare-it.com/blog to switchbl8.nl/blog. Let me know if that leads to any strange behaviour, or just let me know everything works like expected.
Update: I should have written the following: I updated www.rare-it.com/blog to www.switchbl8.nl/blog. The previous blog was not reachable without www, neither is the new location.
Just updated WordPress to version 3.1.3, and of course all stuff inside it. Let me know if that broke things.
It seems that switchbl8.nl now resolves to the correct IP-address. Probably for some time now, but life distracted me from the important things like setting up a new domain!
I’ll try to setup the new domain later this week, and redirect the blog to the new domain.
Finally did some work for switchbl8.nl. I modified the hosting options at DirectNIC, so it knows I host the domain. Changed the domainname-server to point to me. Modified the nameserver here to serve switchbl8.nl too. Downloaded the new WordPress (3.0.4) and extracted it.
More later.
A new year, a new WordPress version and a new theme. The upgrade to WordPress 2.9 went without a glitch, and I upgraded to a simpler theme as well. Please tell me if you like it. WPG2 is gone. It keeps nagging me about mod_rewrite, whereas mod_rewrite is active in Apache, but the stupid WPG2-plugin seems to think it’s not, so it disables the plugin in Gallery2 as well, leaving me with a less functional Gallery. That sucks, so WPG2 will not return.
The Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin is not supported in WP 2.3+, so tags are gone for old posts. Unfortunately! Sorry ’bout that.
I can’t seem to get the Gallery integration to work properly. Either I get lots of 404’s in my Apache’s logfile,or the popup image is bigger than the screen or something else is wrong. I’m not sure what to do, but this sucks. I know, I should upgrade to the latest WordPress, perhaps that helps.
